The model 911E902
supercedes the model 911E and 911E6V ignition modules. It
is intended for use on pre electronic Porsche 911, 914 and
356, six or twelve Volt cars.
The 911E902 is equipped with a harness that it wired into
the car. It can be mounted in an inconspicuous location
so as not to alter the appearance of the car. Installation
is very easy; simply remove the wires from the ignition
coil, connect them to the Perma-Tune and then connect the
wires from the Perma-Tune to the coil. Refer to the Tech
Support tab of this web site for more information on installing
the 911E902 ignition module.
After installing the 911E902, the breaker points function
only as a signal device, they will never pit or burn and
point “float” is greatly reduced. Sensitive dwell settings
of the breaker points can be ignored as dwell is electronically
controlled by the Perma-Tune. On twin cam Carrera 356 engines,
one set of breaker points can trigger two Perma-Tune ignitions.
The 911E902 is compatible with most breaker points conversion
kits.
Spark plug fouling is greatly reduced due to the increase
in ignition power that the Perma-Tune provides. Spark plug
gaps can be increased to .045” on 6 Volt cars and .065”
on 12 Volt cars. Early 911 and 914 6 cars can use the surface
air gap “X” configuration spark plugs.
